I haven’t been writing enough. In fact, I haven’t been writing at all. I’ve been letting things happen to me instead of making things happen. It’s time to get back to some balance.
I’ve been reading a few motivational websites the past few weeks. These guys are pros, and offer a lot of insight they’ve curated from other resources. One thing that has motivated me is their insistence on writing to their blog consistently. That’s kind of key to a successful website. Who knew?
So, I’m motivated to write, if nothing else to share some thoughts and some things I’ve discovered this week. Some sights, some sounds. These are my picks of the week, plus a reminder to myself to keep writing.
Words of the Week: “Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will.” Suzy Kassem.
This was part of my motivation this week to get back to some kind of writing. Any kind of writing. Don’t fear failure.
Sights of the Week: Vox Earworm – Orchestra Hit
This episode of the popular Vox show Earworm could have easily been my Sounds of the Week pick, but it’s not. It is proof, though, that inspiration in my life often begins with music. Whether I’m writing a novel, a poem or something to help motivate myself (and others), it almost always begins with music. So…This.
Sounds of Week: Childish Gambino – “Summertime Magic” & “Feels Like Summer”. Everyone is talking about it, and for good reason. Both songs are modern, but with enough nostalgia to make you reminisce back to the days when summer seemed a little less complicated and a lot more…summer.
Thought of the Week: My goal when I’m inside my house is to stop carrying my cell phone around in my pocket. It’s a simple goal, and when I write it out, sounds absurd. This shouldn’t have to be a goal, it should just be second nature – To not carry my mobile phone inside my own house. But, it’s my goal so that I don’t mindlessly pull it out of my pocket and start opening apps just to do it. I succeed about 75% of the time. I’m working on a 100% No Failure Week. I’m close. Oh, so close. Also, I’ve deleted most social media apps from my phone. I just don’t need to be THAT connected. I have too much writing to do!
Have a great weekend, everyone!!
