The Best Christmas Gifts | A Poem

home for christmas jereme rauckman

A warm, friendly fireplace roaring to life.

Surrounded by family and friends for the night.

Food on the table to fill us with joy, and desserts in the oven to add much delight.

Games in the parlor with laughter and cheer.

The old men in the corner chat over their beer.

The kids run around and shake all the gifts, while the mom’s all feel comfort that everyone’s here.

Each belly is full and the night has drawn long.

As hot cocoa is poured we’re each ready for song.

The carols begin with Joy to the World; the best Christmas gifts are the ones wrapped with love.
