Ode to a Fleeting Firefly

firefly 2.0

Sunbeams

It won’t be long before the day is gone

And the night begins to whisper

The night alight

Red and orange, burning bright

But dimming

Fading

Flying

The summer air, so warm, so fair

The fire sky

The firefly

Captured quickly

Itself so bright

But fleeting

Flying

The lightning flash before it’s past

Like stars among the meadow

Flickering

Teasing

The children’s laughter

Chasing after

The black of night

The firefly
