The Power of Pebbles | A Daily Reminder

A Pebble In Our Shoe

“Nobody trips over mountains.

It is the small pebble that causes you to stumble.

Pass all the pebbles in your path and you will find you have crossed the mountain.”

            -Unknown

I saw the above quote online this morning, and it gave me pause.  I’ve often spoken of the power of pebbles in our lives.  I’ve written how a bad attitude is like a pebble in our shoe, unless we remove it our forward progress will always be affected by it.  And not in a good way.  I’ve also recounted the proverb that if we want to move mountains, we must first move the smallest pebble.

Needless to say, pebbles are a very important symbol in our lives.  They are a tiny representation of this great big world, but alas they are a key representation.  The tiniest pebble begins the process of which all foundations are built.  They are the cornerstones.

The beginning.

And all great things must have a beginning.  If you find yourself outside today, reach down toward the soil and find a pebble.  Any pebble.  It can be as unique as you.  Reach down and grab that pebble and hold onto it.  Take it home and clean it.  Put it on your desk or mantle or keep it in your pocket.  Your pebble is the reminder that all great things must have a beginning.  And if we want to move mountains, we must first move the smallest pebble.

I wish you happiness, success and balance.

Greg
